Walking to work this morning I passed by the AT&T store on Park and 49th in Manhattan. I was expecting a decent line toiPhone release day June 29th, 2007 be forming in for the 6pm release of the hyped iPhone, but only about 6 people had claimed a front row spot. Of those 6 the first 2 seemed to be serious customers that came equipped with chairs, reading material, food, and drinks. The other four waiting for the release of the phone they can’t afford appeared to be panhandlers or line savers. Oh yes for those that didn’t know people will use the homeless to save spots on line. If they are gonna be sitting around begging all day anyway why not give them $10 to sit on a line all day with the promise of another $10 later on in the day. I’ll walk by the store again this evening at 5:30pm and take some shots of the line or lack there of - whichever the case may be! I still don’t know why some peoplehave been camped out in front of the Apple store on 5th Ave for several days when they could have just walked over to any AT&T store today and been first in line.
